This is a fundraiser for Detroit’s Island View Community, raising money to help residents save their homes, and is co-sponsored by Detroit Eviction Defense, recognized by Detroit Metro Times as being the “Best Place to Turn if Facing Foreclosure or Eviction”.
The whole family can enjoy food from area restaurants including: Slow’s Bar-B-Q, Golden Gate Vegetarian Café, China House, MI Pueblo Mexican Restaurant, Vincente’s Cuban Cuisine and more. Be entertained by clean comedian JD the Smile Hustler – Emcee, special guests YArts Deep River Choir under the direction of Ms. Bobbi Thompson, Efe “World’s best African Drummer”, with a special dance performance by RML Entertainment under the direction of Rita Mosley. Also on hand will be Prodijee and Jamar Muhammad – Gospel Hip Hop Dancers, an exploration of Old St. John’s United Church of CHRIST’s involvement in the Underground Railroad, Story Teller Ms. Jane Johnson will engage guests with True History of African American Heroes of the Civil War and the Families of Freed Men. Your evening will not be complete until you work off those delicious calories to the beat of music from DJ Hanz.
Admission:
Adults: $15.00. Children 3 to 12: $5.00. Children 2 and under are free.
Admission includes your first 4 Tapas (small plates) servings and your 1st bottled water or pop.
