M39 (Southfield Freeway) @ W. Outer Drive, Detroit
For over 30 years, people with disabilities have complained, written letters and lobbied politicians from MDOT to Wayne County, about the lack of “curb cuts” at the M39 (SF Fwy) and the W. Outer Dr. overpass in Detroit.
When the Southfield Fwy was refurbished, those curb cuts were ignored. (The only intersection undone!) Join us in a fight for safe crossing of people in wheelchairs, mothers with strollers, bikers and pedestrians with mobility challenges. Spare a life!! Take action NOW!!!
For 30 minutes, 3-3:30pm, on Monday, November 4th, 2013, we will demonstrate that safe passage is not possible at this intersection, for lack of curb cuts. When M39 was refurbished, this intersection was the only bridge ignored. Calling, students, bikers, wheelchair users and other mobility devices, parents with strollers; Come out and send a message that we will not accept more excuses. Safety passage NOW!!! It’s the Law!!!
