In preparation for the International People’s Assembly Against the Banks and Against Austerity:

How Wall Street reorganized the economy and wrecked Main Street

An SEIU educational workshop

Presented by Jono Shaffer, SEIU Deputy Director, and Renaye Manley, SEIU International Representative

Monday, August 16, 7 pm
5920 Second Ave., Detroit (2 blocks north of WSU Law School)

The war against government and taxes over the last 40 years has forced cities and states like Detroit to resort to record levels of borrowing to make ends meet.  Wall Street banks have seized this opportunity to push predatory deals onto cash-strapped cities, just like they targeted low-income families with predatory loans.  As a result, cities and states are forced to slash essential services like trash collection and education to balance their budgets.  This workshop will look at how Wall Street has reorganized the economy to make billions at our expense, the impact it’s has on public services and communities, and what we can do to fight back!

The International People’s Assembly Against the Banks and Against Austerity will take place on October 5 & 6, at Grand Circus Park in Detroit.  Please visit InternationalPeoplesAssembly.org for more information.
