Join us in a demonstration in solidarity with the struggle at Standing Rock, at the Annual Detroit Parade held on the National Day of Mourning, also known as Thanksgiving.

The United American Indiansof New England (UAINE) states that “Many Native Americans do not celebrate the arrival of the Pilgrims and other European settlers. Thanksgiving day is a reminder of the genocide of millions of Native people, the theft of Native lands, and the relentless assault on Native culture. Participants in National Day of Mourning honor Native ancestors and the struggles of Native peoples to survive today. It is a day of remembrance and spiritual connection as well as a protest of the racism and oppression which Native Americans continue to experience.” (www.uaine.org)

If you would like to join in organizing for this action, please come to the weekly meetings of the Moratorium NOW Coalition, held on Mondays, at 7 pm, at 5920 Second Ave., Detroit.

Also sponsored by Moratorium NOW! Coalition, Detroit Active and Retired Employees Association (DAREA), and Michigan Emergency Committee Against War & Injustice (MECAWI)
